The altar, "center
of the thanksgiving," is at the same time "the table
of the Lord" and the place where the sacrifice of Christ
becomes real.
The service of the
altar includes, in a certain way, its care and its ornamentation.
Its care requires a
festive tidiness.
Its ornamentation and
its place in value as the center of the community can be assured
by those who have joyous hearts and magic fingers. Let us remember
that altar cloths do not need to be white like sheets; colored
cloths, embroiderd with art, woudl be happy to serve at the
altar of the lord, An arrangement of flowers, with the smile
of colres, can bring much joy to the sanctuary. There are in
the hearts of certain women treasures of tenderness for the
house of the Lord, as well as wonders of imagination to express
that which Psalm 26:8 proclaims:
O Lord, I love the
beauty of your house,
and the dwelling place of your glory.
